Marketing Recruitment Agency, Australia

Last updated 28 September 2026

Most marketing recruitment agencies advertise the role and work through who applies. Headhuntly headhunts: we go after the person who fits the brief, whether or not they’re looking. Based on the Gold Coast, hunting Australia-wide. Over the last five years, marketing and digital leadership has been most of our book.

Which marketing and digital roles do we headhunt?

  • CMO. Owns the brand and the whole marketing function.
  • Head of Digital. Owns the website, apps, ecommerce and the data behind them.
  • Head of Growth. Owns a customer or revenue number, tested fast across marketing, product and sales.

We also place digital and marketing managers below leadership level. See every role we hunt in the role guides.

What have marketing and digital placements paid?

Marketing leadership (Head of Marketing, Head of Content, CMO, Marketing Director) has run from $95K to $325K, median $180K. Digital and marketing managers have run from $70K to $140K, median $100K.

Based on Headhuntly placements over the last five years. Small sample, base salary only, not a market survey. The full table, with C-suite and technology bands, is in the salary guide.

When should you advertise a marketing role instead of headhunting it?

A job ad works when plenty of people are actively looking, which is often true for coordinator and executive-level marketing roles. It stops working once you’re after someone specific: a CMO who’s doing well where they are, a Head of Growth who isn’t reading job boards. That’s when a headhunt earns its fee. We’ll tell you straight which one fits the role in front of you, and how it works covers the fee (15% of the placed candidate's base salary plus super, plus an engagement fee) and timing (3 to 6 weeks typical) in full.

Questions, answered

Is Headhuntly a marketing recruitment agency?

Not in the usual sense. Recruitment agencies advertise a role and pick from who applies. Headhuntly headhunts: we identify who fits the brief, most of whom aren’t looking, and approach them directly. Most of our book over the last five years has been marketing and digital leadership roles.

Do you place marketing managers, or only CMOs and directors?

Both. Over the last five years we’ve placed digital and marketing managers as well as marketing leadership (CMO, Head of Marketing, Marketing Director). Full ranges are in the salary guide.

How much does a marketing recruitment search cost?

We charge 15% of the placed candidate's base salary plus super, plus an engagement fee, the placement fee on signed employment contract, the engagement fee upfront, which we walk you through on the first call. Full detail is on how it works.

Which cities do you cover?
